KMouseTool FAQ
What is KMouseTool?
KMouseTool is a Linux-based KDE program. It clicks the mouse for you, so you don't have to. KMouseTool works with any mouse or pointing device.
How does it work?
Clicking
Whenever the mouse pauses briefly, KMouseTool sends a click.
"But don't you drop spurious clicks everywhere?" I hear you ask. Well, yes, at first, but it becomes very natural with just a little practice. After a while, you don't really even notice it.
The amount of time it waits before it clicks is adjustable, of course, and is by default just half a second.
Dragging
KMouseTool can also drag the mouse. In drag mode, it clicks down and then pauses before it clicks up; if you move the mouse while it is down, it waits until you are done before clicking up.
Why? Who needs it?
For many of us, clicking buttons hurts; KMouseTool eliminates that cause of pain.
Pain can also be caused by simply moving the mouse around; clearly, KMouseTool can't help with that pain. But KMouseTool does help most people with hand pain a lot, not only those with repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis, but also those with more general conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain syndrome.
What documentation is available?
At the moment, the documentation consists basically of the man page, and some information on the MouseTool home page.
